Equine Veterinarian Internship at Scone Equine Hospital

Scone Equine Hospital has an opportunity for a veterinarian interested in developing their skills and knowledge in general equine practice with the opportunity to work with and be trained by specialists and experienced veterinarians in the Horse Capital of Australia. As part of the Internship, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in a mix of intensive care medicine, ambulatory, radiography, training and experience in surgical and on farm anaesthesia and stud medicine. The months of August and December will provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to focus on radiography on a part time basis; September, October and November will provide opportunities to be involved in the medicine cases at our Clovelly ICU Clinic and in January the successful applicant will have the opportunity to focus on assisting anaesthesia services in surgery. An afterhours roster for Clovelly ICU will be approximately 1 in every 3, however this will be a secondary roster meaning one of our medicine specialists will always be the primary clinician for the afterhours caseload. 

This internship is for 6 months, commencing from 29 July 2019 to the end of January 2020. Equine Veterinarian Position at Tamworth Equine Veterinary Centre

Scone Equine Group has a vacancy for an ambulatory vet in our Tamworth Equine Veterinary Centre (TEVC). This position is suitable for an equine vet with at least 2 years experience or after having completed an equine Internship and is able to start before the breeding season. Commencing early August 2019, this is a 6 month seasonal position with the opportunity of becoming a full time position. Horse Handler - Scone Equine Hospital - Seasonal

We are seeking a competent, reliable person to assist in our surgical section of the hospital. Duties include holding and restraining horses and foals, assisting with admission and discharge of patients, maintaining horse yards and assisting veterinarians with various tasks. 

Applicants need to be proficient in horse handling skills, especially with foals, hardworking and capable of working as part of an efficient team. The successful applicant will be required to start Monday 2 September. The applicant must be over 18 and hold a current drivers licence. 

This is a seasonal position from September 2019 to January 2020.

Junior Nurse/Horse Handler Position

Scone Equine Hospital's Medicine Clinic has an exciting job opportunity for a Junior Nurse/Horse Handler position for the upcoming 2019 breeding season. 

This position is a great introduction into the Vet Nursing field, including one-on-one interaction with our leading veterinarians on a daily basis. The position will commence around early September. Applicants must have good horse handling skills of all age groups, a passion for providing high quality patient care, enthusiastic, motivated, sound written, verbal and computer skills. Laboratory Administration - Seasonal

Our laboratory has a seasonal clerical position available (July/August- December). Duties include specimen reception, the transcription and reporting of laboratory results and general office duties as part of a busy, close knit team.

A proficiency in Microsoft Word and Office, accurate keyboard skills, and an eye for detail are essential. We are looking for someone with good time management skills as well as a confident and professional phone manner. Cert III in Business, knowledge of the thoroughbred industry and a current driver’s licence is desirable.

Scientific/Techinal Officer (Casual Fixed Term)

Our Veterinary Laboratory requires a Scientific / Technical Officer to join the Laboratory team based at our Scone Hospital for the upcoming Thoroughbred breeding season (July – December 2019).

Previous experience (haematology, biochemistry and microbiology) in a veterinary or medical diagnostic laboratory is highly desirable. We are looking for someone who is motivated, reliable and flexible with a commitment to customer satisfaction. Participation in an after-hours roster with the ability to work unsupervised will be required. This role also requires a current driver’s licence.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in laboratory science or equine science are required.

Remuneration and conditions will be negotiated with the successful applicants.
