Equine Veterinary Podiatrist

Scone Equine Group is seeking a full time, experienced Equine Veterinary Podiatrist to be based at the Equine Podiatry and Lameness Centre in Muswellbrook.

This is a permanent long term role with prospects for ownership.

The successful applicant will work as part of a team providing equine podiatry services to Pleasure and Performance Horse clients, Thoroughbred stud and racing clients and hospitalised patients. They will be supported by experienced farriers and registered specialists in Equine Surgery and Internal Medicine.

The Equine Podiatry and Lameness Centre is Australia’s only dedicated podiatry and lameness practice and is recognised around the country as a centre of expertise in the field of equine podiatry. The practice is located in Muswellbrook in the Hunter Valley. It is a beautiful part of rural Australia located close to major regional centres and cities on the east coast.

Salary $75,000-$100,000 depending on experience.

Senior Thoroughbred Stud Reproduction Veterinarian at Avenel

Scone Equine Group is seeking a full time, senior Thoroughbred Stud Reproduction Veterinarian to be based at Avenel Equine Hospital.

This is a permanent long term role with prospects for ownership.

The successful applicant will have primary responsibility for the day to day veterinary management of a number of Thoroughbred studs. Applicants should have significant experience in stud reproduction and stud medicine and are required to have worked in similar roles in both northern and southern hemisphere Thoroughbred stud practice.

Application deadline 31st May 2018 with position starting in August 2018.

Avenel is recognised as the centre of the Victorian Thoroughbred breeding industry. It is a beautiful part of rural Australia located close to regional centres and to Melbourne.

Equine Anaesthetist

Scone Equine Group (SEG) is seeking a full time equine anaesthetist, based at the Scone Equine Hospital.  Experience in equine anaesthesia is necessary. Qualifications, or eligibility to sit examinations, to allow registration as an Australian specialist in anaesthesia are preferable but not necessary.

Scone Equine Hospital performs approximately 1500 major surgical procedures annually. The position will be well supported by 3 interns and 3 senior veterinarians with extensive anaesthesia experience. We recognise the demands of this position and scheduling will allow the person to have days away from anaesthesia as well as dedicated after-hours personnel in the busy stud season. Our practice boasts an internationally recognised intensive care hospital and there is plenty of opportunity for the successful applicant to be involved in areas of their interest beyond general anaesthesia. The Scone Equine Group has a strong culture of research, publishing and presenting at scientific meetings and these endeavors will be supported. 

Scone is located in the heart of the thoroughbred breeding and western performance industries and is a beautiful part of rural Australia located close to major regional centres and cities on the east coast of Australia.

The position is permanent full time with the hope that the applicant will stay long-term and acquire ownership.  An attractive salary package is offered with the commencement date being prior to August 2018. Applications close in March.

Equine Surgeon

Scone Equine Group (SEG) is seeking a full time equine surgeon, based at the Scone Equine Hospital. Applicants must have, or be eligible to sit, appropriate qualifications to allow registration as an Australian specialist in equine surgery. These include FANZCVS, Dipl ACVS or Dipl ECVS. 

SEG includes Scone Equine Hospital, Equine Podiatry and Lameness Centre, Avenel Equine Hospital and Tamworth Equine Veterinary Centrel. We are the largest equine practice in the southern hemisphere, employing approximately 40 equine veterinarians during the breeding season, The group boasts an internationally recognised team of veterinarians, including 3 specialists in equine surgery, 3 specialists in equine medicine and 2 specialists in theriogenology. 

Scone Equine Hospital performs approximately 1500 major surgical procedures annually. The surgical load is biased towards thoroughbreds, although we have a significant number of non-racing performance clients. The Scone Equine Hospital is well equipped to perform all recognised procedures. Surgeries at Avenel (Victoria) and Tamworth (NSW) are well equipped to perform routine elective and some emergency procedures.

Scone is located in the heart of the thoroughbred breeding and western performance industries and is a beautiful part of rural Australia located close to major regional centres and cities on the east coast of Australia.

The successful applicant will be one of four equine surgeons, based at our Scone surgical facility, although the successful surgeon will have the opportunity on occasion to travel to our other sites to perform elective procedures. Our surgeons have a wealth of experience and are willing to provide help, support and training.

The position is permanent full time with the hope that the applicant will stay long-term and acquire ownership.  An attractive salary package is offered with the commencement date being May 2018, although a delay until August is possible. Applications close in March.

Marketing/Communications Assistant (Part Time)

Scone Equine Group (SEG) currently have an exciting and diverse new position available in our Marketing and Communications team. The role will be responsible for assisting the Marketing/Communications Manager on a part-time basis across a variety of creative areas, across our four key equine clinics and SEG Online Store.

This position offers a flexible working arrangement in our Scone Clinic of 15-18 hours per week. 


The primary responsibilities of this position are:

• Assisting with management of our SEG Social media channels, websites, and digital marketing.

• Assisting with the maintenance and promotion of our SEG Online Store.

• Assisting with collating relevant material for our social media channels, websites and other media platforms.

• Assisting with photography/Filming where required.

• Ability to travel to one of our SEG clinics if required.

IS THIS YOU?


The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

• Marketing, Communications, Digital Marketing, Creative Arts, or similar qualification/experience (or studying)

• Internet and PC proficiency with MS Word, Excel & Outlook skills 

• Equine Industry knowledge, including terminology

• Ability to manage multiple social media channels confidently

• Excellent communication skills, and time management.

• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) – (Desirable but not essential)

• Ability to use a digital camera and edit photographs - Desirable

THE ROLE
We are currently have an exciting new position available in our Customer Service team. The role will be front of house in our Reception area where you will play an important part of liaising with both our Clients and our Veterinary team. This position offers a flexible working arrangement of 25 to 30 hours per week from 12pm onwards.
The primary responsibilities of this position are:
• Delivering outstanding client care and customer service;
• Handling client enquiries and appointment requests professionally in person, by email and over the phone;
